Is there a maximum line length that is searched?

I did searches on a repo with GitHub Code Search (beta) and the cloned repo on my local machine with plain text processing tools (Select-String, grep, etc.) The results were not identical. GitHub Code Search (beta) identified six (6) less files than Select-String.

The starting column of the pattern was always at column 1,000+. Is there a maximum line length that will be searched?
