Here, productions marked with respective comments are abbreviation forms for equivalent expansions.

What's the "usual" escape sequences? I'd like to have something a bit more precise!
Is there a pre-existing standard we can use? Presumably Unicode would work.
How are quotes escaped?

I guess we don't define char at all here, which is the true problem.

I'd rather define char instead of special-casing segment. I'd define it as something that's already standardized, so we don't have to invent something new.

Perhaps that is worth doing in a separate PR. This was meant to fix the broken definition of the memory expression that was not updated when the code was.

I'd be OK with that if the text were only "The segment string is used to initialize the memory at the given offset." (with typo fix in there!), and an associated issue or PR to fix char.

I agree with @jfbastien. Better define char than describing it in prose. In this or a separate PR.

At yesterday's WG meeting, we decided to make a new release, now switching to the Evergreen model. For administrative and technical reasons having to do with W3C procedure, we decided to bump the release number to 2.

From now on, the standard will iterate at version 2 from the W3C's official perspective. We use minor release numbers internally to distinguish different iterations.

At the moment the spec requires a `LinkError` to be thrown when the `WebAssembly.Global` constructor is called for type `v128`. This was introduced in WebAssembly/simd#360, but according to the PR description, actually a `TypeError` should be thrown. The PR refers to https://github.com/WebAssembly/simd/blob/master/proposals/simd/SIMD.md#javascript-api-and-simd-values, and there a `TypeError` is required.
