Plan Overview

  1. When a new version of ARIA becomes a W3C Recommendation, AKA becomes a standard, it is accompanied by a new version of WAI-ARIA Authoring Practices.
  2. Note: WAI-ARIA 1.0 did not include an authoring practices guide; APG 1.0 was not completed.
  3. WAI-ARIA 1.1 became a recommendation on December 14, 2017, and it was accompanied by APG 1.1 Release 1.
  4. Since APG 1.1 does not yet cover all of ARIA 1.1, additional releases are planned to be made roughly every 6 months until the APG covers all ARIA 1.1 features.
  5. At the same time, as APG 1.1 is being completed and ARIA 1.2 is being developed, APG 1.2 is being developed.
  6. A working draft of APG 1.2 will accompany each publication of a working draft of the ARIA 1.2 specification.
