why vimium dose not work on home page

i was searching about how to close all tabs on browser using vimium
(quitting browser and then reopening is a slow process)

i read somewhere vimium doesn't work on default home page because it's security feature of the browser

but i found this extension close all tabs
it can close all the tabs by (alt + w) even it works on the browser's default home page

this made me curious if the extension can work on browser home page why can't vimium ??
