User Story

Block producers will be able to collect profiling data from their Lotus node as they produce blocks. They want to be able to see how their node is performing in production and be able to provide detailed and helpful metrics to Lotus devs if they encounter issues with block production times and orphan blocks.

1. investigate what resources already exist within Lotus for measuring timing of different parts of the block production
2. Add code to ensure that all necessary metrics are being collected by Lotus
3. Ensure that debug/metrics endpoint has all of the metrics necessary to do block production profiling by adding debug / trace code to all relevant places
4. Test using a local devnet that this code is correctly generating timing data
5. Test on production Filecoin mainnet (Lotus TSEs and/or Filcolins)

Produce a brief documentation on what the steps are and how long each step is taking, this would be useful for the new consensus protocol research that CL is working on.

Prometheus is Lotus' standard tool for metrics collection. It is great for both debug & overview dashboards and long-term monitoring setups.
